Delivering Exceptional Service to Students
Hi! My name is Emily. I have been tutoring for over eight years, both in-person and online, working with students from first grade through university in an array of subject areas. Additionally, I have experience with standardized test preparation as well as college/professional application assistance. Throughout the years, I have gained over 10,000 hours of tutoring experience with more than 1,000 different students.
I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Biology and Marine Biology as well as a Master of Science in Biomedical Science. I have a passion for learning new things and enjoy sharing my love for learning with my students. My availability is always flexible to accommodate student needs and schedules, from formal sessions to text messages or phone calls in an "academic emergency." If I am unable to accommodate your needs, one of our other tutors certainly will!
LESSONS AND SPECIALTIES
Results That Last
I know how difficult it can be to find the time to prepare for standardized tests (SAT, ACT, GRE, MCAT, etc.) in addition to the usual academic workload. As an experienced tutor and previous student, I can help to create a study schedule that will guarantee student success as well as boost student confidence without the overwhelming feeling most students inevitably feel when beginning test preparation!
Learning can be more fun in groups! I specialize in group lessons, and know how to get my students to excel through personalized attention, patience, practice, and hard work. I make learning fun through a variety of engaging and hands-on activities. Teaching is a skill, but great teaching is more of an art that only a few can master.
Sometimes all is takes is a slightly different explanation! Everyone has a different learning style and not every student will understand everything when explained in only one way. One-on-one lessons allow the opportunity to identify students' problem areas and work with them in positive, constructive ways to achieve success and boost confidence.
Applying to college, searching for scholarships, trying to perfect your college essays, submitting your first resume or CV, writing a cover letter.... The list goes on and on... It can all seem a bit overwhelming at first but as a previous student that funded my entire education with scholarships I am happy to pass along some helpful hints.
